Erfoud , November 10th, 2011 - HM King Mohammed VI, accompanied by HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, presided, on Thursday in Erfoud, over the opening of Morocco’s date festival, which includes an international date exhibition (SID 2011), to run till 13 November.

On this occasion, HM the King visited the various stands and spaces of the exhibition, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries under the theme "The Oasis, a source of inclusive growth."
This event is meant to serve small farmers and protect natural resources, notably through a balanced and rational management of water resources and the fight against desertification, in full respect of environmental standards in force.
The exhibition, which is set up on an area of 3 hectares, offers the opportunity to build partnerships between Moroccan and foreign professionals in the field.
The exhibition, expected to attract over 60,000 visitors, is bringing together 180 exhibitors and 13 foreign countries (Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, USA, Pakistan and India).
Several themes will be discussed during the exhibition, including "How to meet international standards of dates?", "What is the place of Moroccan date on national and international markets?" and "Forum on Investment in the oasis zone: Opportunities for investment, installation of services and financing tools."
Several cultural and artistic activities will be also held as part of the Festival.
